Editorial Policy

ESCAVO strives to provide professional medical education content that is evidence-based, balanced, unbiased and up to date with the latest clinical practice guidelines. We do our outmost to list our primary sources and provide extensive bibliographies with links to the original sources whenever possible for validation and to encourage further examination of the discussed topics. ESCAVO information is largely based on medical practice guidelines issued in the United States, and may not be appropriate in all countries. All content is reviewed and edited by medical doctors.

ESCAVO’S medical Apps are primarily intended to function as medical reference resources for working healthcare professionals at the point of care in clinics, hospitals and other acute care centers. As such, we aim to provide practical, actionable and high-value diagnostic and treatment information in a concise and readily accessible and absorbable format. This content is not meant to provide exhaustive coverage of the topics covered, basic science, in-depth evidence analysis, or extensive discussions of all benefits, harms, exceptions and special cases. We encourage our users to consult authoritative sources such as textbooks, medical journals, primary research articles, professional drug administration guides, and other peer-reviewed medical sources before diagnosing and treating any disease covered in our medical Apps.

Most importantly, the information supplied should not substitute for the clinical judgment of trained medical professionals, and should be interpreted only in the clinical context of the patient being treated. The entire clinical picture including patient history, presentation, physical exam and laboratory and other test results should be taken into account when interpreting this information. Although we do our best to ensure accuracy and provide content that reflects current practice guidelines, we make no warranties of the accuracy or appropriateness of our content. For more information and a complete disclaimer please refer to our Terms of Service.

Advertising Policy

ESCAVO accepts advertising in some of its mobile medical Apps from third parties (“Advertisers”), advertising that may include splash screens, banners, images, text and other media (collectively “Advertisements”).  We generally try to provide Advertisements for products and services that are relevant and potentially of interest to our audience, and reserve the right to reject any Advertisements that we feel are inappropriate. Acceptance of Advertisements should not, however, be considered an endorsement by ESCAVO of the products and services advertised.

We are very sensitive to the issue of commercial bias in medical education and consequently enforce a strict separation between our editorial policies and our advertising activities. Advertisers do not in any way influence our editorial decisions and we do our outmost to present balanced and unbiased educational content in all of our medical Apps. All Advertisement content is clearly labeled as such.

ESCAVO does not endorse the products and services advertised, does not vouch for their safety and efficacy, and does not verify the validity or scientific integrity of the content contained in their Advertisements. These products and services and the content of their Advertisements are solely the responsibility of the Advertisers. Advertisers are responsible for complying with all US and foreign laws and regulations applicable to their Advertising within ESCAVO Apps and for including all legally required legends, disclosures and statements in such Advertisings, including without limitation the current FDA guidelines for Direct to Physician (DTP) and Direct to Consumer (DTC) advertising. ESCAVO will not monitor compliance with such laws and regulations, however, ESCAVO reserves the right to review all Advertising for compliance with applicable laws and regulations and, if ESCAVO becomes aware of any breach or potential breach of any applicable laws, regulations or guidelines, ESCAVO may remove the Advertising from the Apps.

Tapping certain Advertisements shown in our mobile Apps, specifically banner ads, may direct users to external websites displayed in the default browser of the mobile device. These websites reside outside of our Apps and are maintained and controlled by the Advertiser; ESCAVO does not control them and is not responsible for their contents. For analytics purposes and to allow us to serve ads in the correct language and format, ESCAVO may track user click-through activity, marketing campaign identifiers, language locale, and device type. We do not collect, track, store or share any personally identifiable information. For more information on the type of data we collect and track please refer to our Privacy Policy.
